A Note Up Front (and don't mind the dates)
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog.
I would like to write a quick note as to why I am doing a blog in the first place. I am a mother of four and a grandmother of seven. I am blessed to live in the beautiful state of Alaska. The picture above is one I took in my neighborhood.
But, this isn't the reason I'm writing.
I want to come clean up front. I was a super-devoted, Jesus loving, Holy Ghost believing Christian for many years. I was actively involved in ministry in my church. I played the piano for services. I led the choir. I taught Sunday school. Then I fell, hard. I blamed the church for years but the truth is, I'm the one who took my eyes off the prize.
Recently, God began dealing with me and I found myself on my face before Him asking for forgiveness. I said, "How could I have done this knowing what I know!" All those years I was called to serve God and I threw them away. I am old now. What can I do? God brought a scripture to my mind. "I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten," Joel 2:25.
The second chapter of Joel begins with a sounding of the alarm that the Day of the Lord is coming and is nigh at hand.
(Hmm, I believe this applies to me and my time.)
It goes on in the chapter to ask us to return to God with all our hearts, with weeping and fasting, and with mourning. God asks us to rend our hearts and turn to God for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger and of great kindness.
(Yep, this is for me.)
It is in this context that God promises to restore the years the locust have eaten. I am so grateful! I'm going to believe God's promise. This little blog is one of the ways I'm believing God to use my life for His purpose. Father, use the words and ideas you have given me to restore even a little of the time I have wasted.
You may notice something about the dates of the posts. The only way I know to pin a post to the top of the blog, is to put a future year on it. So, you will see a couple of posts like that, posts that I want to make sure are the first thing you see when you visit, like my testimony and The Gospel.
For all who find yourselves here, may God touch your heart and mind in some way and....
Hi, you might want to change the date on your blog...2020 has not yet arrived! God bless.
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by and taking the time to comment. I really appreciate it. I actually dated the post like that on purpose. It's the only way to pin a post to the top. There are several others with future dates, too. God bless!
DeleteHi there; My name is Paul.
ReplyDeleteI have read your post above and I was wondering who is that God you are talking about in your post ?
Is it Allah or Krishna or Buddha or who ?
Paul
Hello, is there anybody home to give me a simple answer ?
ReplyDeleteOr perhaps are you talking about Jehovah, or is it this Christian God of three people, or is it Yahweh or who ??
Paul
I'm here. Thank you so much for your question. I guess in simplest terms, it's all three. I'm talking of the Christian God known as Yahweh or by the Greek version, Jehovah. The God of the Bible is a god of three separate persons and reveals that to us from the first verse of the Bible to the book of Revelation. Is there anything else? I'll be praying for you
Delete“It’s all three of them”. Hmmm, don’t you think that is a lot of gods you have to please ?
DeleteWouldn’t it be easier to ditch two of your gods and believe only in one God ?
Paul
Excuse me, ‘A Reasoning Together’, are you still there ?
DeleteSo then, one of your god's names is called Yahweh, is that the name of the big god ?
And what are the names of the other two gods ?
Paul
It would be nice to be able to 'ditch' those truths we find inconvenient. But if we could, we are no longer dealing with truth. We human beings often try to remake God in our own image, but God is still God, truth is still truth, and truth is the word of God. This is a link to a post I did a while back on the Trinity:
Deletehttps://areasoningtogether.blogspot.com/2019/04/the-trinity-word-and-theophanies.html?m=1
Thanks ART for the link concerning the trinity, I have read it.
DeleteSo then, are you saying that you don’t know God ?
It is one thing to know, and another thing to guess.
Paul
Thanks Paul, for reading the other post. I didn't mean to imply that I don't know God. I know Him in a very personal way. The difficulty is explaining Him. I mean, He's God. And yes, I mean God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. May I ask your perspective or from what point of view you're asking?
DeleteI’m asking from the perspective of one who doesn’t know God and would like to know your God.
ReplyDeleteBut because you don’t know the only ONE true God therefore you cannot lead me to this only true God.
You are leading me to a siamese triplet God who has three bodies, with three heads and three wills etc. etc.
As you have said, “I mean, He’s God”. And then you are saying that He is three persons.
That would be an oxymoron, an impossibility !
If you believe that, then you would not be able to give me His only name, because there would be three people or persons with three different names.
Paul
The first thing that came to my mind as I read your comment was, "I should write another post on the Trinity," and then, "I should research the best apologetics, or I should tell him that Old Testament Jews realized that God was at least two in one and didn't come down firmly on the side of 'oneness' until the realized they may have caused the crucifixion of The Angel of the Lord." Then I remembered what Jesus said, "Ask and it shall be given unto you.. Seek and ye shall find. Knock and it shall be opened unto you (Matthew 7:7). God desires fellowship with us, and I am only human with limited ability to convey His love. If you are truly seeking God, you will find Him. And the best place to look for Him is in His Word. I suggest the Gospels. I'm praying for you.
DeleteI do not suggest that you should write another post on the doctrine of the trinity, and neither should you research the best apologetics; that would be like the blind who leads the blind, and you know what happened to both of them.
DeleteWhat I think you should do is to repent of your many gods and turn back to the Lord Jesus Christ and believe only in Him.
You see, If you believe only in the Lord Jesus Christ, then you believe in the TRUTH (John 14:6).
If you add another entity or person to the Lord Jesus Christ, then you are adding Satan to your only one God Jesus Christ and your faith and belief is compromised, then you have departed from the TRUTH which is the Lord Jesus Christ (John 14:6).
Remember the Lord Jesus Christ said, “Narrow is the way and only few are those who find it”.
If the FATHER is not the Lord Jesus Christ, then WHO is the Father ?
If the SON is not the Lord Jesus Christ, then WHO is the Son ?
If the HOLY SPIRIT is not the Lord Jesus Christ, then WHO is the Holy Spirit ?
Can you see, everything is the Lord Jesus Christ and when you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, you will be able to portray, preach and teach Jesus Christ as the ONLY Lord God the creator of heaven and earth and everything in it, the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last, who is and was and is to come, the Almighty, the one who was dead and is alive forever more, the ALMIGHTY Jesus Christ !
Paul
Hey ART, I have left you a short comment on your trinitarian post.
